Fitting in perfectly with our larger mission, i.c.a.p. is excited to engage with Lisa Colette Bysheim and Katrine Patry for their production of Blue Carousel.
With one Norwegian dancer and one Canadian dancer involved in the project, we aim to create opportunities for international exchange between these two arctic countries.
Premiering June 2024 at Dansens Hus, Oslo and then as part of Oktoberdans 2024 in Bergen, i.c.a.p. is connecting the artists to international networks including festivals, presenting venues and embassies. At the same time, we are exploring a broader scope of potential discourse around production themes.

Blue Carousel is a satire of the phenomenon of seduction. Inspired by qualities of bird mating rituals interweaved with human social codes of flirtation, two dancers and a live DJ-duo evolve and interact in a brightly colored arena.
A power play of expectations and associations, the piece explores how humor can be used to dissolve preconceived ideas of how the body is seen, objectified and categorized. Moving through repetitive and insisting motives set to transformative techno beats, Bysheim & Patry aim to transform and dissect power relations, all the while deconstructing binaries of the masculine/feminine.

‘The DJ duo [AG02] are on stage playing intense and fast techno, while Bysheim and Patry [...] take turns posing in various seductive positions.
